Welcome! This is a website that everyone can build together. It's easy!

HomeThis is a featured page

Hello and Welcome to the Slate Wiki. Again like its sister sites the Gogarth , North Wales Limestone, Welsh Winter Climbs , Tremadog and Trevor Area (Clwyd) Wiki's this site has been set up to provide up to date information on the existing routes. Since the evolution of other wikis it seemed appropriate to offer the same interactive service for the Dinorwig Slate Quarries.

The sort of imformation we are looking for is current state of play on route descriptions, pegs, grades and bolts. Something that since the start of a re-bolting campaign has been very dynamic.

Please note that much of your great work on this wiki has helped Ground Up bring their superb Llanberis Slate guidebook to print. Although this is a fully comprehensive, definitive guide development is ongoing and the new routes keep on coming, so please keep adding your information to this valuable resource as it will help in the production of future editions.

The originator of this wiki has been involved with a phone app for iPhone and soon Andriod phones, as such we are aiming to try and up date our phone app about once every six months, so if you do put up a new route or think we need to know something then either contact Mark via here or visit theSend.

If you would like to help contribute to the on-going project of re-equipping the slate quarries then you can by either giving a little time to go out with the drill (training can be arranged through contacting the site creator), or by donating to the North Wales Bolt Fund. You can donate using Credit Card, Debit Card or Paypal by clicking on the link above. Alternatively, if you would like to mail a donation then contact: northwalesboltfund@googlemail.com or NWBF, Llysfaen, Lon Brynteg, Llandegfan, Menai Bridge, LL59 5NU payable to NWBF. Or, visit V12 outdoor, Joe Brown, The Indy Climbing Wall(Llanfair PG), Beacon Climbing Centre, Rock Bottom (Betws), The Great Arete (Bangor) or The Castle Climbing in London where they have collection jars.

For the latest information and to help with any addition information you can share with everyone then click on the link below.
BMC Better Bolts News. This link includes important information on keeping everyone up to date on routes equipped with bolts from this source.

It would seem a good idea to add a comedy graded list to the site, if you have any thoughts on routes that need to be put up or down the list, and where to then it would be extremely helpful if you would use the comments feature to allow some debate before a route is moved.
Another page that would seem important to add is a list of routes that are outstanding, that need re-equipping on the Re-bolting Projects. If you bolt a route then remember to remove it from this list.

Weather: Here's link to Pete's Eat's webcam's, one of which faces the quarries. And Metcheck for Llanberis

To Pete, Mark, Martin and Simon, & everyone involved with them.
HUGE congratulations to everyone involved in the production of the new Llanberis slate guide. The UK climbing scene owes you a huge debt, for a massive piece of work that will bring great pleasure to many people.
Thanks Lads!

Climbed Bise-Mon-Cul.
Absolutely superb, and very sustained. Will be a classic once it is cleaned up a little.
Great Climbing!
